Beware of the low carb beer!

Being on the Dukan Diet you obviously became extra sensitive about your carbohydrate intake. This also means you get good at spotting all the new foods that are popping up due to the popularity of the Dukan diet and all the other low carb regimes.

Although the diet itself does not allow alcohol, most people tend to "sin" every now and again, and trying to make these not too naughty could lead to checking out the low carb beers.

Don't be fooled though, because as the article in the Sunday Morning Herald reveals their superiority seems to be only a myth.

Mrs Middleton and the Dukan Diet

As usual the Daily Mail one day promotes something and another slanders it. So after the 3 article feature, here comes the not so positive review on the wave of interest for the royal bride:

Read article

Let's debunk just a few of the inaccuracies:

The bad news is that, for the first week or so of the diet, there's only three things on that list (vegetarians, look away now). Meat, fish and eggs - that's it.

Oh, wait, there's this whole food group called dairy that is missing... And there is the oat bran, it might be small quantities but it definitely can help diversify your meals.

Unlike the Atkins diet, the only meat allowed is lean and not fatty - which means rashers, bangers and burgers are out, too.

You can't have the bun in either diet, however you can have lean beef mince (or even better mince lean meat yourself), as well as make chicken or turkey patties.

The link between mattress stuffing and weight loss

A very amusing article about oat bran and the dukan diet.

During the first stage, the “Attack Stage,” you can eat unlimited amounts of pure proteins that have little or no fat. Plus a lot of water, etc. Period. Plus Dr Dukan’s secret weight loss weapon: oat bran. You start by eating 1 ½ tablespoons of oat bran a day and after the Attack Phase, you eat 2 tablespoons each day. I’ve never had oat bran and I didn’t know what people do with it.
