Well so it seems Dr. Dukan lost in court, base on this BBC article and one in the Independent.
Despite this I still stand by the diet. From my own experience (and that of all my friend and family who have tried it) it only encouraged us all to eat better, and be more choosy about what we put in our mouths.
Like the lorriman's comment in this article says the "norm" does not like change or even a challenge. I'd really like to see proper studies done in the low carb field. Or maybe a bigger crack-down on all the sugar and fat laden sweets as well as read-meals with zero nutrition that are cheap and available everywhere.
Lastly, on a side note, I find it quite amusing how they all these articles mention that eating high protein can increase fat intake. Well, maybe if you are talking in general, but how did they miss the massive part of the Dukan diet that says everything should be LOW FAT!
I totally agree with you! It seems that everyone who wants to criticize the diet just latches on to one aspect of it and tries to tear it down. My labs improved so much that my MD asked me how I did it! I tried doing the Atkins diet the way they present it with no worries about how much fat was added, and I ended up gaining weight, not to mention my triglycerides and cholesterol increased. So, I stick by Dr Dukan also and plan to eat this way for the rest of my life :)
ReplyDeleteThe only reason people are making a big fuss about it is bc they are only looking at the Attack Phase and not the diet as a whole. If they did they would realize that all nutritious food groups are included. Check out my journey on Dukan: http://dukandothis.wordpress.com
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post and Becky's comment, too. I just started and I'm so relieved to find a diet that fits me! I thought I couldn't lose weight any more (too many ups and downs) but I am. I want to be able to say I've found the last diet I will ever need! Bless Dr. Dukan.
ReplyDeleteDukan lost the case not because the diet is flawed but because it was judged to be a freedom of speach issue. The hearing did not consider the merits of the diet but the fact what was said was protected as a freedom of expression

ReplyDeleteThat is great I started yesterday and I am so excited about this diet, please keep us update on ur progress. Congrats...
Reading these reviews make me excited. I plan to start the Dukan on Monday. I am 54 with 50lbs to lose and due to age and lifestyle have found it impossible to lose weight. I am going to give this one a good shot and start to do mild exercise. Turn a new leaf in the book. I will post back feedback as I progress.
ReplyDeleteI aim to start the diet tomorrow and have to lose up to 50lbs - so hopefully, annoymous and I will be able to motivate each other as we go - good luck! I am really excited as I really want to do this - I need the extra energy for my grandchildren and want to be around to see them grow up!
ReplyDeleteAnyone with hormone imbalance and menopause tried this diet - am desperate to get something that works.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about menopause, but I've been diagnosed with PCOS. I did have success with the diet, just slower than some of the success stories. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the diet! I'm 48 and have had a very hard time losing weight. I started the Dukan diet 8/15/11 and so far I've lost 20 pounds... in 3 weeks. I was never hungry i ate the way Dr Dukan prescribed for the attack phase. Now i'm in the cruise phase. I very happy and will continue until i reach my goal.
ReplyDeleteI began the diet 8/12/2011 and I LOVE it!! I have lost 23 pounds, I'm never hungry, and I have more energy. I'm 61 years old and thought I simply could not lose any weight. Thanks Dr. Dukan!!
ReplyDeleteI began the diet on 5/2/2011, and lost 30 pounds in 3 months. I am moving into Phase 4, but have no desire to eat any of the unhealthy food I used to. This diet works- it reduces your carb/sweet cravings very early on, during the attack phase. This made it much easier for me to follow. I view food differently, as energy. This is not to say I can't go out to a restaurant to enjoy a nice meal, because I do every other week. I am 36, a full time working mother of two toddlers- I have never felt or looked better in my entire life. Starting this diet was one of the best choices I have ever made. My lab work has also come back with better numbers than I have had in previous years.
ReplyDeleteI have yoyo dieted for years. I hate counting points and calories. I started The Attack phase on 9/12/2011. As of today I am down 5.6 pounds. I don't even feel as if I am dieting! I am 53 years old and have 40 pounds to loose. I think I have finally found my new life diet!By the way, I am post menopause, quit smoking and NOTHING I tried in the last three years worked! Love This!
ReplyDeleteI am just starting the diet as of 9/19/2011. I have seen someone here in my town do this diet and lost 50lbs in 3 monthes. I hope this diet works I am so tired of being over weight and not active. So far so good but I do feel hungry still how long has anyone stayed on the attack phase? Is a week long enuff?
ReplyDeleteI started this diet 5 days ago, i have lost 3kg but have had the diarrhoea since the 2nd day, has anyone else had this problem
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard anyone else have that problem, it's usually the opposite. Maybe try using less dairy to see if it makes a difference, some people can have problems with lactose.
ReplyDeleteI am starting this just after payday next week. Am feeling really positive after reading all the comments. I have 40 kilos to loose. :)
ReplyDeleteI am five weeks into the diet and have lost 28lbs - went to but a new shirt and neck size gone from 17.5 to 15in..! A great feeling and every one is asking me how have I managed it?

My name is Naomi.I am 21 years old and I have been on dukan for just over a month and have lost 15 lb. My goal weight is 130 lb and i am supposed to reach it by march 4th 2012. So far everything has been pretty easy. i have slipped abit not because of cravings but because of social events. It can be hard to go on a date with my boyfriend or meet up with the girls for a day out, but overall i have had much more success than setbacks. I am excited to be at my goal weight for my anniversary on march 5th and celebrate both my achievement of my weight loss and three years with a wonderful man, with my first celebration meal.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Jo-Ann I am 53 years old and I have struggled with dieting. I have 22 kilos to lose (I am from New Zealand). I have tried everything. I started the Dukan diet due to friends suggestions, so I did just that last Monday. I got weighed on Saturday and I had lost 4kilos. 1kilo = 2.2lb.I start on the cruise phase. I slipped yesterday, went out for dinner and also a hen party. But definitely no where as bad as I used to be.
ReplyDeleteHi - I am Lynne, and I am starting my Dukan diet tomorrow on 1st January. A bit nervous but determined to believe its possible finally to find a diet I can stick with. I have always preferred meat and veg to carbohydrates anyway, so hoping this will do the trick. Sad to think no alcohol for a while though, hope zero cal drinks will be enough. Glad to read all the success stories, best of luck everyone.
ReplyDeletei started two days ago and have already lost 4 pounds!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was first time introduced to Dukan Diet by friend this afternoon. Since then non stop reading infos on diet, pro and cons and even checked on Dukan website my supposed real weight. I am 56 and my weight changed from 57 kg to 2 years ago 79 kg max weight ever. Then in a matter of 9 month lost 20 kg due to Crohns disease and now back to 72 kg again and wanted to reach and maintain 62 kg which I thought was right for me. However I was impressed by the explanation given and that my goalweight under the information provided by me should actually be 65,8 kg. The only reason I am still hesitating to give it a try is that I do not really enjoy eating meat but really thrive on fruits and vegetables and I worry that the high protein intact might be a risk for a flair up of Crohn's. The opinions in healthy eating matters differ so much that one really becomes insecure about the right choices and at the same time the worry of individuals who might enrich themselves by the longing of millions to look good and live healthy is lingering in the back of my mind without pointing fingers but just resulting from those insecurities. When doctors and nutritionists cannot agree in their view of a healthy way of dieting how on earth should one be convinced to follow the 'right' choice...
ReplyDeleteHi
DeleteI am also a Crohns sufferer for last 22 years, many ops last one resulted in Colostomy and radical hysterectomy. Since then weight has ballooned over 30 kilo's. Just wanted to know how you are going on the Dukan
